This past weekend Team Latitude 64º's own David Feldberg captured his first NT title in just over two years, winning a playoff against the German Wonder kid Simon Lizotte. Dave battled Simon all week trading the lead many times before the playoff would begin. It looked liked Simon Lizotte would win his first NT title approaching the sixteenth tee pad with a three stroke lead over Feldberg. Then came the magic that has made Feldberg the Legend he has become. After birding the 16th hole he followed it up by placing his seventeenth drive of the round only ten feet away, feeling the pressure Lizotte left his drive short and opened the door on the final hole. Feldberg had the tee on this long challenging par four trailing by just one stroke. As he lined up his drive you could feel he was about to apply some pressure on his younger counterpart. Surprisingly Feldberg misplayed his drive and left it wide open for the young German. Simon did not disappoint unleashing a five hundred foot plus drive that found a tree just on the left of the fairway a hundred feet closer than Feldberg's drive. It looked as if it was over, but not for Feldberg as he found some magical window and got a 80 foot look at the basket for a birdie three. Simon needing to just get up and down misplayed his approach and looked to card a four on the final hole.
As Feldberg lined up it seemed as if we were just waiting for him to throw his shot so the celebration for Simon's first win would begin, as he let go of his putt, I thought that looks pretty good, nah he didn't , oh my God it is in, we have a playoff!! Simon looked so shook up after Dave's putt that you could feel that Dave would win the playoff. It took only one hole and Dave tapped in a nice birdie from ten feet to claim the 40th anniversary of the Rochester Flying Disc Open and the 19th NT win of his career- (the all time record for most NT wins). He had not won an NT in two years and the Trilogy family is stoked for him to claim a title. We caught up with Dave and asked him how he felt on those last few holes.
